05 / You

Tell us about you.

Your voice, your skills, your songs in progress. This is your space.

A little more about the music

Find your place in the music.

Burnt Chapati puts creators first and builds a different circle around every project. This page helps us understand where you may enter that circle.

A project network is only as precise as the people inside it.

Burnt Chapati does not ask every person to arrive as the same kind of applicant.

You may bring a song, an instrument, a production method, a research question, a room, an audience path or a resource. What matters first is naming the contribution honestly and connecting it to a real intention.

Your creator profile introduces your roles and skills to Burnt Chapati. It is not a talent score, an audition result, active membership or a promise that a project will follow. Choosing a musician role does not grant access to other people’s projects.

Choose the roles that describe the work you are ready to carry.

You can be multidisciplinary. The useful signal is accuracy, not the number of categories selected.

Originate

Artist

Bring the performance voice, creative identity or artist-led work at the centre of a possible project.

Write

Composer

Bring music, lyrics, structure, repertoire or another originating act of authorship.

Develop

Producer

Shape arrangement, sound, sessions, people and the route toward a finished recording.

Perform

Musician

Bring instrument, voice, interpretation, improvisation and practice to a defined musical need.

Resolve

Engineer

Carry recording, editing, mixing, mastering or another precise technical responsibility.

Contextualise

Researcher

Bring a question, method, archive, language or traditional-arts context into responsible inquiry.

Present

Promoter

Bring a credible audience, room, programme and local production context for live work.

Enable

Investor

Propose project support subject to separate diligence and written terms; no investment is offered here.

Your next action is more revealing than a broad biography.

Choose the route closest to the conversation you want now. Burnt Chapati can ask whether another path fits better after review.

Create

Create or record

Bring original music or a production proposition that needs the right working circle around it.

Present

Book or stage

Bring a venue, festival, institution or programme context for a Show or Concert conversation.

Investigate

Research or archive

Bring a practitioner-led question to an R&D initiative that remains in development and open to proposals.

Enable

Fund or partner

Bring a defined capability or resource for project-specific assessment rather than a generic transaction.

Tell us where the work is—not where you think it must appear to be.

Stage describes the evidence available for a first review. It is not a quality grade or a promise that Burnt Chapati will move the work into production or release.
Idea
A musical premise, voice note, research question or live concept still looking for its strongest frame.
Demo
A reviewable draft that communicates direction without claiming finished production.
Production
Work is underway and its current contributors, materials, dependencies or decisions can be identified.
Release-ready
You believe the public object is prepared for review; Burnt Chapati still makes an independent assessment.

Describe the stage that is true today in your project introduction or private conversation.

A few precise inputs create a useful first direction.

  1. 01

    Role

Names the kind of contribution you expect to bring into a project network.

Who you are in the work
  2. 02

    Intent

Connects your introduction to creative work, live presentation, R&D or partnership.

    What you want now
  3. 03

    Stage

Shows what evidence exists and which question is likely to matter first.

    Where the work stands
  4. 04

    Context

Adds location, a relevant link and the detail that structured choices cannot hold.

    What we should understand
  5. 05

    Suggested path

Start a song on Create, use your workspace for projects, or use the contact routes below for live work, research and partnerships.

    Not a decision

Map what you bring. Give it a real context.

Share a display name, roles, musical skills and an optional introduction or portfolio link. Your email stays private.

Sign in using the workspace above to save your profile. Recordings belong in your private projects; general proposals can use the contact routes below.

Specific beats impressive-sounding.

A concise introduction can carry depth when it helps us understand the contribution and the next decision.

A creator profile introduces you. Project terms and any membership decision remain separate.

We review the proposed relationship—not a manufactured score.

01

Creative or practical purpose

The introduction makes clear what the applicant wants to create, present, research or enable.

02

Legible contribution

The role, method, resource or responsibility can be understood without filling gaps with assumptions.

03

Honest readiness

The stated stage and supplied evidence create a credible basis for the next question.

04

Creator-first alignment

The proposed interaction can respect creative intent and shared participation inside a project network.

05

Present capacity

The introduction can be considered against the work and attention available at the time of review.

These principles are not a points system. Review may lead to a question, approval, rejection or no immediate project conversation.

Application, approval and activation are three different moments.

The earlier membership programme keeps its private review process for existing records. These states describe membership, not your creator account. Signing in or saving a profile does not apply for or activate membership.

  1. 01

    Pending

An existing pending application has a reference and remains in private review. Membership is not active.

    Introduction received
  2. 02

    Approved

Burnt Chapati may approve the introduction after review without creating active membership.

    Review decision
  3. 03

    Active

A separate administrative decision is required after approval. No particular benefit is promised on this page.

    Separate activation
  4. 04

    Rejected

An application may instead close without membership or a project relationship.

Share the context we need—not everything you have.

Your profile contains a display name, roles, skills and optional introduction and portfolio link. Your sign-in email remains private. Song reviews show your display name when approved; private recordings and messages are limited to the project’s creator, assigned collaborators and BCMC staff.

Do not include government identifiers, passwords, banking information, medical information, confidential third-party material or files you are not authorised to share. Use a controlled link only when its access settings match your intention.

Read the Privacy page for the current handling statement. Saving a profile does not create project terms or grant access to another creator’s workspace.

  • Keep personal data proportionate
  • Control access at the linked source
  • Arrange a suitable channel before sharing sensitive material

Your profile, projects and membership.

01Can I choose more than one role?

Yes. Select each role that reflects a contribution you genuinely expect to make.

02Does choosing a musician role give me access to projects?

No. BCMC must assign you to a project before you can access its recordings and conversations. A creator account does not grant legacy membership privileges.

03Does approval activate membership?

No. Approval and activation are separate decisions, and the page promises no active-member benefit.

04Does membership give me ownership or a project role?

No. Any role, credit, fee or fractional ownership must be separately agreed for a defined project.

05Should I send confidential material?

No. Start with proportionate context and arrange an appropriate channel before any sensitive exchange.

Contact

Burnt Chapati puts creators first and builds the network around the project. Tell us what exists, who is involved and what contribution or decision you need next.

The subject changes. The principle does not: make the work legible.

Burnt Chapati currently routes public enquiries through hello@burntchapati.com. A specific subject line helps the label understand which project network, developing programme or operating question the message concerns.
Work
The song, production, live context, research question, capability or project you want considered.
People
The creators, contributors, knowledge holders and decision-makers already connected to it.
Ask
The contribution, resource, introduction or decision you want Burnt Chapati to consider next.
Constraint
Timing, location, access, language, rights, budget or production information that materially shapes the request.

Use a routed email below for general enquiries. For a song, start on Create; your profile and private workspace live on You.

Let the song arrive before the pitch machinery.

Use this route when original music, repertoire or an artist-led premise is the reason for the conversation.

Tell us what the work is, what stage it has reached, who already contributes and which part of the project remains unresolved. One relevant listening or reference link is more useful than a large unsolicited package.

Burnt Chapati is an alternative to legacy thresholds, not an escape from clarity. Name whether the material is an idea, demo, production or release-ready work, and say what you want the right network to make possible.

An introduction begins review. It does not transfer ownership, establish confidentiality or commit Burnt Chapati to production or release.

  • Name the creator and present contributors
  • State the current stage honestly
  • Ask for one intelligible next step

Route: mailto:hello@burntchapati.com?subject=Creative%20proposal

Say whether you need a capability or bring one.

The same craft can enter the network from opposite directions. A precise first line prevents that distinction from disappearing.

Attention-led Show or performance-led Concert?

Both begin with music, but the audience relationship and production brief are different.

Shows

Authored listening contexts

For sessions, listening rooms, demonstrations or other formats in development around a deliberate way of hearing.

Concerts

Public performance contexts

For an artist, ensemble, festival or constructed bill with a credible presenter and production frame.

Calendar

Confirmed public information

For checking dates after the format, people, place and announcement details have been verified.

Describe the room before asking us to hold the date.

Include the presenter, programme purpose, city and venue, proposed date window, intended audience, requested format, production position, indicative budget and real decision deadline.

Traditional knowledge enters through relationships, not extraction.

The Centre for Advanced Research and Development of Traditional Music and Arts is in development and open to grounded proposals.

Describe the practice, archive, field context or research question; the practitioners and institutions already involved; the proposed method; and the output or access condition you imagine.

Name known questions around consent, attribution, language, cultural sensitivity, collection access and rights. An unresolved permission is useful information when it is stated honestly.

A proposal starts review. It does not announce a residency, archive, commission, facility or funded programme.

  • Practitioners and decision-makers
  • Consent, attribution and intended access

Institutions should bring accountable context.

Name the accountable programme owner and distinguish confirmed resources from the ones still being explored.

Start with the project purpose—not a generic transaction.

A support conversation becomes useful when its creative object, responsible people and intended use are visible.

01

Name the work

Identify the project, creator-first premise, current team and evidence that already exists.

02

Name the resource

Describe the capability, amount or access being considered and the intended project use.

03

Name the dependencies

Surface permissions, people, timing, budget and third-party decisions that affect feasibility.

04

Keep the first exchange proportionate

Leave banking details, identity documents and other highly sensitive records outside an initial email.

Use hello@burntchapati.com with the subject "Partner proposal". The email is an exploratory route, not an investment offer or promise of return.

Different enquiries need different evidence.

Both should be concise, authorised and connected to a real purpose.

Send the minimum material that makes the next decision possible.

An initial email is a routing tool, not a secure project repository or signed confidentiality arrangement.
